All LandCruiser 300 Series vehicles are powered by the same 3.3-liter V6 twin-turbo diesel engine paired to a 10-speed automatic gearbox with manual shift mode.

A lockable center differential, a 110-liter fuel tank (80L main, 30L sub), a low-range transfer case, front double-wishbone independent and four-link rigid axle suspension with coil springs (Sahara ZX and GR Sport variants get adaptive variable suspension), ventilated front and rear disc brakes, hydraulic variable power steering, and a 200A alternator are also standard across the board.

2. Different colors

Glacier White, Crystal Pearl, Arctic White, Silver Pearl, Graphite, Ebony, Merlot Red, Saturn Blue, Dusty Bronze, and Eclipse Black are the color options for the LC300.

3. Additions

The basic GX model comes standard with automated emergency braking, active cruise control, auto high beam, lane-keeping technology, LED headlights, a rear camera, Toyota Connected Services with an automatic crash warning, and an automatic SOS button, and stolen vehicle monitoring.

It also has keyless entry and start, two-zone temperature control air conditioning, a rear camera, a 9.0-inch touchscreen display, smartphone connectivity, an electronic park brake, and all-around one-touch power windows. A trailer electrical harness is also included.

Going Sahara adds 14-speaker audio, a head-up display, a heated steering wheel, heated middle-row seating, and power-folding third-row seats.

The new GR Sport five-seater has ‘TOYOTA’ writing in a gloss-black mesh grille, GR Sport branding wherever you look, blacked-out trim, unpainted bumpers, and racier seat material, among other things.

More crucially, it has front and rear differential locks and e-KDSS, an advancement of the original 200 series’ independently locking/unlocking front and rear stabilizer bars (electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System). The adaptive variable suspension, adaptive high lights, and the five driving modes all seek to enhance on-road handling, control, and confidence.

Finally, the Sahara ZX five-seater has a chrome grille, new headlights, bumpers, taillights, and a reshaped tailgate for a more luxurious appearance. There are also gleaming 20-inch alloy wheels, side stairs, jazzier decor, heated/cooled middle-row outboard seats, and a torque-sensing rear limited-slip differential.

It also looks like the only 300 series entry point with a motorized tailgate.

4. Interior

You first notice how big and spacious the 300 feels when you open the heavy door and get inside.

Most importantly, the dashboard design is pleasingly symmetrical and simply utilitarian. It has a large display that contains (perhaps optional) 3D digital instrumentation coupled with analog dials, vehicle data, and multimedia information to provide the impression of modernity and development.

The same is true for the temperature control and audio systems, which have a large volume knob where you want it, airports where you need them, and lots of welcoming, real switchgear rather than confusing and unpleasant ‘virtual buttons’ hidden deep under sub-menus. This is all simple.

Moving on to the back, we can only say it’s as airy, extensive, and accommodating as you’d expect from a five-meter SUV.

One of the most noteworthy advancements in the transition from side-mounted third-row seats to an under-floor layout considerably improves the 300 series’ practicality and family-friendliness.

5. Capacity for towing

The maximum towing capability of the Toyota Land Cruiser is 3500kg. Some models also have heavy-duty or towing option packs that may boost towing capability while limiting towing capacity.

1. Should I purchase a 2014 Toyota LandCruiser with apparent rust?

When there’s corrosion on a Toyota LandCruiser from Western Australia, alarm bells go out. This is because these vehicles are regularly utilized in the mining sector and have incredibly long – and sometimes very short – operating lifetimes.

The modern LandCruiser’s refrigerated box between the front seats is on almost every four-wheel-wish driver’s list. It’s a fantastic concept; surprisingly, more vehicle manufacturers don’t offer it as an optional extra, even outside the off-road sector. So the smart money is that the upcoming 300-Series LandCruiser will keep this capability.

As it stands now, the hitch is that you’ll almost certainly have to buy the most costly LandCruiser model to receive the beverages cooler.

To receive the chilled center console in the 200-Series Cruiser, you must purchase the top-tier Sahara, which also includes heated and cooled leather front seats.

Perhaps Toyota will offer the chilled center console on lower-priced models of the new 300-Series, as an extra-cost option for, say, the volume-selling GXL model.

That’s a definite possibility, given that Toyota has consistently elevated the LandCruiser lineup upwards with each new model. We believe it is a viable solution with a high likelihood of adoption.

4. Which Toyota LandCruiser model is the best?

From 2000 forward, the LandCruiser had just two six-cylinder diesel engines. The 100 Series utilized a 4.2-liter turbo-diesel six-cylinder engine (called the 1HD-FTE) with plenty of power and a solid reputation for dependability and longevity.

The base-model version of the 100 Series (officially known as the 105 Series) featured a non-turbocharged 4.2-liter six-cylinder diesel (the 1HZ) that is even more durable, with many owners clocking up more than 500,000 kilometers without any troubles.

The catch is that the 1HZ, with just 96kW of power and 285Nm of torque, seemed underpowered in the comparatively hefty LandCruiser.

Meanwhile, the turbocharged 1HD-FTE might produce a more powerful 151kW and 430Nm. Both engine choices were available until the conclusion of the 100 Series, which the 200 Series replaced in 2007.

The only diesel engine available at the time was the twin-turbo V8 diesel. Early variants of this engine had various issues, but Toyota improved to increase performance, and the V8 diesel is now very well-regarded.
