2022 Toyota Camry: Prices, Performance, Features

The Toyota Camry is a popular car that has been around for many years. The 2022 Toyota Camry will be a great car for those who are looking for a reliable and affordable vehicle. This car will have many features that will make it a great choice for anyone who is looking for a new car.

2022 Toyota Camry

Its 2022 version of the Toyota Camry has a familiar brand name with models before it, but its extrovert styling and performance-oriented model make it nearly indistinguishable. It’s because the present Camry is, in all likelihood, the most captivating it’s ever been.

The primary, boring four-cylinder engine is efficient and suitable for everyday driving. The hybrid version boosts fuel efficiency even though the acceleration isn’t exceptionally smooth.

This leaves the powerful V-6 with 301 horsepower to speed up the speed, particularly on the sports-tuned Camry TRD, which is quite enjoyable to drive.

Although rivals such as the Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata are more refined and enjoyable overall, the Toyota comes with unique features, like the full set of active safety features and the trust built by years of reliable performance.

  • Information system that is user-friendly and easy to use
  • Seats with plenty of space
  • Comfortable ride and well-balanced handling
  • The V6 engine is punchy and powerful.

  • A little smaller trunk
  • Noisy cabin

1. What’s New for 2022?

The only change for 2022’s Camry line-up is how the various models appear. As opposed to the appearance package, you can now get the Nightshade look package (which includes black trim on the exterior and black all wheel drive) available on hybrid models.

The Camry’s paint choices are somewhat different and are available, with Edge White now available on non-TRD trim levels. However, Galactic Aqua is no longer available. Galactic Aqua hue has been taken off the market.

We recommend the smoky Camry out of all the models. That is the one with the tune-up TRD model. It’s only offered in a 301-hp engine and an eight-speed auto. It also has a more aggressive body kit, which includes a distinct rear spoiler and an impressive pair of exhaust tips. The car has a tuned suspension, 0.6 millimeters lower than the standard versions.

Other performance-enhancing features include larger front brake rotors and black 18-inch rims that can be had with all-season or summer tires; rear cross traffic alert.

The improvements will make this Camry TRD more exciting to drive than other range models, even though its cat-back exhaust doesn’t sound like the awe-inspiring sound its multitude of aerodynamic upgrades suggests.

2. Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The standard four-cylinder engine is paired with a smooth, eight speed automatic transmission; however, its acceleration figures are slightly disappointing.

A smaller version of the engine uses batteries and two electric motors to drive the Camry hybrid, which is less thrilling in its driving experience than the standard engine. The most impressive feature of this line-up is the smooth 301-hp V-6, which is accessible on XLE or XSE models and the TRD version.

We’re also thrilled to announce that we’ve stopped riding the Camry. It is a smooth riding experience and surprisingly smooth handling. The steering is well-weighted and is hefty when you turn and light while maneuvering through parking areas.

We found the brake pedal responsive but relatively easy, especially when driving the hybrid, where it has to combine friction with the regenerative brakes (where the energy generated by the braking process is used to charge the battery pack of the hybrid).

At lower speeds, however, the brake pedal of the hybrid is extremely sensitive, making parking maneuvers an awkward jerk.

3. Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The entire Camry range performed excellently in the tests conducted by the EPA, and a four-cylinder model performed exceptionally well during our tests on the real-world highway.

The most efficient hybrid Camry variants are LE and SE, equipped with the four-cylinder engine. They received EPA figures of 27 mpg in the city and 39 mpg highway. The primary LE hybrid scored 51 mpg in the city and 53 mpg on the highway. The upper trims of hybrids reduce efficiency on the altar of luxury. LE have a Nightshade edition and a heated steering wheel.

However, models powered by the V-6 have ratings of 22 mpg in the city and as high as 33 mpg on highways. Four-cylinder Camry SE returned 45 mpg during our highway tests which beat its EPA score by six mpg. This makes it one of the more efficient non-hybrid vehicles we’ve test driven.

It beat even that of the Camry XLE hybrid we tested by 1 milliliter. For more information on the fuel efficiency of the Camry, go to the EPA’s website.

4. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

We’ve tested the Camry in its top-of-the-line XLE version and the more elegant SE trim. Both are comfortable and spacious, and the XLE is a tad luxurious.

XLE have Driver Assist Package and panoramic glass roof with front power tilt/slide moonroof. There’s a noticeable difference in the quality of materials between the entry-level and more expensive models. The central portion of the dashboard made many of us uneasy with its lack of style. It’s a great car.

Camry is a spacious car, and it has plenty of storage space for your cargo and storage inside the trunk and inside its cabin with the rear seat folded. It could be more efficient in all storage categories; overall, it’s a very competitive model.

Toyota moved its Camry hybrid’s lithium-ion battery out of its trunk to under the rear seats, which means hybrid owners can maintain their carrying capacity for the additional mpg.

5. Infotainment, head-up display and Connectivity

Toyota’s touchscreen infotainment and entertainment system, dubbed Entune 3.0–is available across the Camry range and has an upgraded version available as an alternative. Entune is packed with features and has been able to respond to inputs from users during our tests. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support are standard.

6. Standard safety features and Standard Driver Assistance Features

We continue to be awed by Toyota’s decision to make driver assistance technology available for the entire range of Camry models. For more details on the Camry’s crash test results, check out this site: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. The most crucial security features include the following:

  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane-keeping assistance
  • The standard adaptive cruise control

Toyota Camry Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

7. Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

While competitors like the Hyundai Sonata and the Kia Optima have longer warranty durations in this class, Toyota holds its own with two years of normal factory scheduled maintenance.

The limited warranty is for three years or 36,000 miles.

The powertrain warranty is valid for five years or 60,000 miles.

Maintenance is free for two years, or the equivalent of 25,000 miles

Is the Toyota Camry a Good Car? Is the Toyota Camry Reliable?

Yes, the Toyota Camry is indeed a good car. The four-cylinder engine in the base model provides impressive fuel economy, and the available V6 engine is lively.

The Camry is quite fun to drive and offers an enjoyable journey. Certain midsize cars come with higher-end interiors. However, this Toyota is spacious, has comfy seats, and has simple technology features.

Because of its remarkable combination of value and quality, We named the Camry one of the finalist candidates for the 2022 Top Midsize Car for the money award.

It also was one of the finalists in our 2022 Best Midsize Cars for Families award due to its excellent combination of passenger and cargo space Safety and dependability ratings, favorable reviews from journalists in the automotive industry, and the availability of family-friendly features.

Toyota also produces its own Camry Hybrid, which we examine in a separate article.

Should I Buy the Toyota Camry?

The Camry is a must for anyone who is shopping for a mid-sized sedan. It’s not among the top coveted automobiles on the road due to accidents. Alongside its numerous accolades and accolades, the Camry is priced at a fair price, making it a reasonable price in its category.
